Penelope Warne recognised as one of “Britain’s 500 Most Influential” in The Sunday Times

26/01/2015

CMS’ Senior Partner, Penelope Warne, has been recognised in “The Sunday Times Britain’s 500 Most Influential”. She was listed as “Penelope Warne, Senior Partner, CMS, one of the world’s top-10 legal firms and Scotland’s market leader.”

Penelope is one of only 20 ranked in the law category, alongside prestigious judges and QCs. The list has been compiled by Debrett’s in consultation with expert practitioners and commentators in each of the categories. “It recognises the most influential and inspiring people living and working in Britain today. It acknowledges power, talent, hard work, brilliance, originality, persistence, courage, and, occasionally, luck: in short achievement.”

Penelope Warne, comments, “It is an honour to be in this list. With influence, however, comes significant responsibility. My hope is to deliver excellence and quality so that CMS' clients get a brilliant top service and to make sure we contribute wider afield in thought leadership in the field of law and our core sectors of expertise. My other priority is to inspire and grow our successful business and promote a supportive culture, embracing all aspects of diversity, so that the careers of all in CMS can thrive.”

Duncan Weston, Managing Partner, CMS, adds: “Penelope has done so much to build our firm and raise our profile across the globe. This work has been accelerated since becoming Senior Partner a year ago. In the last year, she has been called to give her expert opinion on the impact of Scottish independence on the oil and gas sector. She has featured on a number of high profile panel discussions – the most recent being on energy in Davos last week. At the same time, she continues to advise her energy clients and build her firm – she was instrumental in making the combination with Dundas & Wilson happen. This is a fantastic achievement. As a firm, we are exceptionally proud of her.”
