Ian McCann advises on all aspects of non-contentious construction and engineering law, providing advice in both the public and private sectors from inception to completion.

Dual qualified in Scottish and English law, he has significant experience on a wide range of standard forms of construction and engineering contracts (mainly SBCC/JCT, NEC and FIDIC Standard Forms of Contract) and in drafting the bespoke amendments that are required for each of these forms on a project by project basis.

With a background in delivering non-contentious construction and engineering advice on a broad range of projects from inception to completion, Ian has  a wide understanding of the range of construction and engineering issues that can arise.

  • Land Securities Properties Limited in relation to development works at retail and leisure parks throughout Scotland.
  • Statoil (UK) Limited in relation to the design and construction of a new offshore wind facility in England.
  • Standard Life Investments in relation to a major office retail development in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh and works at major retail developments in Scotland.
  • Scottish Water in relation to the Alliance Agreement with Efficient Service Delivery (ESD) – an alliance between Black & Veatch, Galliford Try and MW Treatment for design and build projects expected to be worth £560 million over the life of the six-year contract. The agreement covers both new-build and capital upgrades to reservoirs, pumping stations and water treatment works and is part of a new £3.5bn investment programme.
  • AEGON UK Property Fund Limited in relation to the acquisition of a major office development in Scotland.
  • Edinburgh St James Limited in relation to the redevelopment of the St James Shopping Centre.
