Liliane Fozard is an Associate in the Insurance and Reinsurance team advising clients on a wide range of coverage and disputes matters, including aviation, construction, professional and financial lines, property and casualty insurances, and reinsurance. Liliane qualified as a lawyer in Brazil in 2012 and she successfully retrained at CMS being admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales in 2017.

Having previously worked at a local Brazilian firm and having also spent six months on a secondment at the CMS Rio office, Liliane is ideally placed to handle Latin American matters. She has varied experience in reporting to the Insurance London Market on complex issues. Recent examples of coverage and monitoring work include:

  • a reinsurance D&O claim for defence costs in a case where the original Insured was the subject of a large scale and high profile fraud investigation by the US and Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commissions and Departments of Justice.
  • an E&O multi-jurisdictional matter where the claims against the Insured, relating to an underperforming bioethanol plant in Brazil, totalled U$85m.

Outside of work Liliane enjoys adventure sports (with a particular soft spot for paragliding) and cycling by the sea. She is particularly passionate about travel, having undertaken extensive travel around Latina America and Europe.
