Stephen is a Partner in our Real Estate Disputes team. He acts for clients in the public and private sectors who own, occupy, manage, develop or invest in property. He acts for landlords, tenants and developers. His specialisms include developments and vacant possession strategies, business lease renewals and terminations, dilapidations, rent review, service charge disputes, arrears recovery, squatters and possession cases and landlord and tenant insolvency. He deals with cases in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, as well as arbitrations, mediations and expert determinations.

Stephen has featured in the legal directories for many years. He is ranked as a top tier leading individual in Chambers & Partners, the 2014 edition of which states that he is able to provide “very sensible and sound advice”. The 2013 edition of Legal 500 says that Stephen is "very responsive and provides considered and sound advice".

  • A company in the financial sector on rationalising a portfolio of over 200 leases after the takeover of a rival company.
  • A national housebuilder on two vendor and purchaser disputes concerning two plots of development land with a combined value of over £30m.
  • A chemical company on a £2.5m nuisance claim concerning an alleged emission of a chemical on to neighbouring premises.
  • A large number of shopping centre owners on asset management of more than 30 shopping centres.
