Land registry excerpts to be obtained from attorney, public notary or legal entities with public authorities

2015-11

By-law on technical and other conditions regarding electronic land registries entered into force on 2 November 2015. On the basis of the By-law, it is now possible to obtain verified land registry excerpts also from attorneys, public notaries and legal entities with public authorities.

The afore mentioned persons will have to be assigned a specific user account, and will then be able to, against payment of certain court fees, issue land registry excerpts, verified with special certification of the Ministry of Justice. Every excerpt issued in such way will contain a control number and web site designation, or a QR code.

For every land registry excerpt, issued in such a way, a court fee in the equal amount as before (HRK 20) is to be paid, with addition of the issuer’s fee (also HRK 20), meaning an overall fee of HRK 40. A single fee of HRK 20 will remain for the excerpts issued by the court.

The main reason for introducing these changes is to unburden the land registry departments and facilitating citizens’ approach to public documents; however, only when the system is fully functional, it will be possible to evaluate whether those goals have really been achieved.
