State Aid for the Development Of SMEs in the Croatian Tourism Industry A Call for proposals (henceforth: “the Call”) related to the development of small and medium enterprises (“SMEs”) operating in the tourism industry, particularly in the industries of Accommodation and Food and beverage service activities was opened on 14 October 2015. The Call is intended for SMEs in order to stimulate investment associated with the construction of new facilities, expansion of capacity and/or increasing the quality of existing hotels, including the diversification of services into the services that the hotel has not previously offered, with the aim of prolonging the tourist season and raising the competitiveness of SMEs in tourism. The aid intensity is 45% for micro and small and 35% for medium-sized enterprises, the minimum grant amount is HRK 1.000.000,00 and the highest HRK 10.000.000,00. Applications for the Call can be submitted from 16 November 2015 until 31 December 2016 or until the total amount of HRK 304.000.000,00, designated for this Call, is consumed. In order to demonstrate effectiveness of state aid/grant usage, projects need to show end results in terms of increased quality and services provided, prolongation of the tourist season, higher revenue and increased employment. Eligible activities for co-funding are as follows: •Investment in tangible and intangible assets in terms of (a) (re)construction and furnishing new or existing facilities as well as (b) introduction of supporting/additional features; •Project-related external consulting services; •Touristic fairs presence/service presentation; •Project-related employees’ education/training expenses
