CMS Budapest bolsters Competition team with senior hire

4 January 2022

International law firm CMS is pleased to announce that Aranka Nagy has joined CMS Budapest’s Competition team. Aranka joins CMS as a senior associate from 1 January 2022.

Aranka has 12 years of experience in all aspects of competition law. In 2010, Aranka joined the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH). As a Deputy and later Head of the Merger Section, she dealt with high-profile mergers and represented the authority in cross-border cases. She has published many articles on competition law, and especially merger control, both in Hungarian and English. She also co-authored GVH’s recent survey report on sustainability and competition law, which was prepared for the ICN Annual Conference in 2021.

In addition, Aranka served as a competition expert at the OECD Competition Division in Paris for a year. She regularly gives lectures on merger control to students at the Bibó István College of Law.

Szabolcs Szendrő, CMS partner and Head of the Competition team at CMS Budapest, comments: “We are very excited to have Aranka join us and bolster our Competition team. I’m convinced her experience and know-how will help us continue to deliver first-class advice to our wide-ranging and continuously growing clientele.”

Aranka said: “I am delighted to join the Competition team at CMS Budapest, which is the market-leading practice and an international hub and knowledge-centre for the most complex multijurisdictional matters, a position which is unique among Hungarian law firms. I look forward to working together to further strengthen CMS’s presence in Hungary and the wider region.”
