Partner Interview

MARÍA GUINOT BARONA

∙ What will be the most important market trend affecting your clients’ sector over the next 12 months? ∙

The draft Public Procurement Law that is currently going through the Spanish Parliament. Companies will need to adapt internal procedures to specific requirements, for example, regarding compliance and environmental issues.
It promises to have far-reaching effects on the relationship between the private and public sectors here in Spain.

∙ What has been your most memorable day as a lawyer? ∙

It would have to be the day I became a State Lawyer, a position which has given me privileged insight into significant national events. That said, I honestly feel that every day we close a transaction or win a settlement for our clients
is memorable in its own way.

∙ If you weren’t a lawyer, how would you earn your living? ∙

In my few free moments, I love eating out with friends, and even more preparing food for get-togethers at home. Who knows? If I hadn’t become a lawyer, then my restaurant might be one of your favourite eateries here in Madrid.
