Attorney-at-law for corporate law M&A

What will the law firm of the future look like?

Presumably the same as any other professional service firm in that it will be very IT-driven. I expect IT departments to grow significantly in both size and relevance as a result.

If you weren’t a lawyer, how would you earn your living?

I would like to run a small restaurant. I am not sure I could earn a living doing so but it would be worth trying.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

I recall a piece of advice that I gave: a usually very pleasant private investor client fired the manager of a newly acquired portfolio company in an emotional outburst. I knew that he was, in principle, happy with him. I offered to take the manager back and apologise for the client’s behaviour. This was not easy since the client is 20 years older than me. However, the client followed  my advice, and the relationship between him and the manager became pretty close after the incident.
