IAIS: Report from expert review teams conducting the self-assessment and peer review of Insurance Core Principles 1, 2, and 23
The ICPs in question concern mandate and supervisory powers (1 and 2) and group-wide supervision (23). Overall, it was noted that general observance with, and awareness of, ICPs 1 and 2 was high amongst participating authorities. With regard to ICP 23, it was recognised that many insurance authorities are at varying levels of observance because observance is likely predicated upon changes to legal frameworks and supervisory powers that require time to implement. However, as the majority of participating authorities found the definition of “insurance groups” challenging. It was agreed that clarification of ICP 23 was essential and the standard is to be reviewed and revisions proposed.

The Commission has published a report addressed to the Council and to the European Parliament and provides an overview of the current state of preparedness of the EU financial sector, building on continued discussions with ECB, the ESAs, ESRB, SRB, Member States and the financial services industry. It concludes that the the development of the Savings and Investments Union and the introduction of the digital euro is expected to improve the overall resilience of the EU financial sector and to further improve its level of preparedness.
