Coronavirus: Commission extends and adapts state aid rules to mitigate the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic

On 2 July 2020, the Commission announced the extension of the application of European state aid regulatory frameworks, initially in force until 31 December 2020. As part of this extension, the Commission also decided to relax certain EU state aid rules in order to mitigate the economic and financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic for undertakings. These changes concern in particular undertakings in difficulty, job relocations and de minimis aid granted to SGEI’s.
