CMS completes transactions in CEE

10/11/2009

CMS has finalised two transactions in CEE. The firm acted for Rumford Alliance in the partial exit of their cable TV portfolio to EQT V, a European private equity fund. Rumford participated in this portfolio through the Dutch Bultel Cable II Holding B.V.

In parallel transactions, EQT acquired the majority interest in Bulgaria's two largest cable operators, CableTel and Eurocom, which together have half a million subscribers. The expected profits from the new company are estimated at €70 million per year. One of our clients will be reinvesting his 30% interest in CableTel in the acquisition vehicle. The total value of these two deals is €210 million.

The international team was led by David Butts and Atanas Bangachev of CMS Sofia. Roman Tarlavski, Chris van Amersfoort en Yana Levin of CMS Amsterdam, have advised Rumford Alliance on the Dutch aspects of the transaction.
