Jan Willem Bouman has been working for more than 30 years in the area of company law, particularly in relation to companies in distress. Jan Willem has frequently been appointed as a trustee in domestic and cross-border insolvencies of all sizes. He uses this expertise to assist companies who are facing imminent threats to their survival. As head of the Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group, Jan Willem is frequently the point of contact for businesses and institutions that are already facing an existential crisis or are at risk of doing so. ​

Jan Willem manages a multi-discipline restructuring team which assists clients with refinancing, rationalisation, restructuring and/or protected insolvency, in particular pre-packaged insolvency, which is designed to safeguard the continuity of the business. The scope of his work is both national and International. Jan Willem and his team regularly work with banks, accountants, tax specialists and/or consultants.

  • Representing the Heiploeg group – Europe’s largest shrimp processor, with approximately 3,000 employees active in four continents. Jan Willem assisted this group with the biggest and most succesful Dutch relaunch through a so-called “pre-pack”.
  • Assisting Nedstaal, a Dutch steel producer, with its continuity problems and relaunch.
  • Representing a large, internationally active iron foundry and plastics manufacturer.
  • Representing two charitable organisations that both have a top 5 position in this sector.
