Registration of private deeds easier and cheaper

22/07/2010

In the Netherlands private deeds can be registered with the tax authorities. For an undisclosed pledge of receivables or a non-possessory pledge of moveable assets this registration is a cost effective alternative to a notarial deed. Until recently these registrations had to be delivered to the offices of the tax authorities before 15.00 in order to be registered the same day.

As of 9 July 2010, registration services at the offices of the tax authorities will be available on business days from 9.00 until 17.00. Earlier this year in another policy change the ministry of finance decided that the registration charge of € 3, - would no longer apply. Registration of private deeds is now free.
