Aslak Støen has many years of experience in real estate law, both in tenancy, leisure and commercial properties. He has specially worked on property development and lease contracts, but also purchases and sales, and has assisted a number of various private and business parties as well as the public sector.

Støen has assisted in all phases of a wide range of real estate development projects of varying extent. The experience ranges from smaller projects with residential development, to several of the major projects with a mix of residential, leisure, business and infrastructure purposes. The assistance is regularly linked to the planning and implementation of corporate and property law structuring, often closely related to tax-optimized arrangement. This assistance includes handling of various types of contracts (SPA, contractual contracts etc.), sectioning, registration purposes (including concession and document fees), as well as processes with the public sector, for example about development agreements.

Støen has wide experience in rental contracts, both in terms of negotiations, preparation, ongoing follow-up and liquidation. Aslak has among other things considerable experience in dealing with material breach on the tenant side, including eviction processes. Aslak has also been involved in the revision of the various industry templates for both tenancy- and commercial leases, which are regularly published and updated by Huseiers Landsforbund, Norsk Eiendom, Forum for Næringsmeglere and Norges Eiendomsmeglerforbund.

During the period 2012-2018, Støen conducted the work to establish a property law department at EY (Ernst & Young Advokatfirma AS). He also conducted the interdisciplinary business sector Real Estate, Building and Construction, across the many different disciplinary subjects (auditors, lawyers, various consultants, etc.) at EY. The latter meant that Støen acquired valuable industry knowledge, as well as professional understanding, beyond the real estate legal perspective.

Støen holds regular lectures and courses for clients and industry actors. He has also published a number of articles, including articles for Estate and Journal of property rights.
