Stian Hultin Oddbjørnsen is specialised in technology and media law, as well as in intellectual property rights and public procurement and different commercial contracts. He represents a wide range of public and private clients in these areas.

Stian has significant experience in digitalisation projects, technology licensing, outsourcing, cloud computing (as a service deliveries), eCommerce, cybersecurity, accessibility, electronic communication/telecom and legal compliance and regulatory issues in the tech field. Stian is an expert in the widely used standard Norwegian IT contract templates “SSA”, having even contributed to the development and official guidance on the agreements on assignment from the government.

In the field of intellectual property rights, Oddbjørnsen has worked particularly with copyright issues but also possesses solid experience in the areas of trademark law, legal issues regarding domain names and marketing law. He has worked extensively with rights, strategies and contract clauses related to data as used in systems that utilise machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He has also worked within the culture sector (museum exhibitions) as well as the gambling sector.

Stian Hultin Oddbjørnsen assists both public and private sector players with issues that involve regulations on public procurements. He is often closely involved with the actual execution of procurement processes “from A to Z”: from the earliest preparations, market dialogue, preparation of tender documents in working groups, execution of the tender process with and without negotiations and participation in evaluation groups, to contract start-up and follow-up. This has provided valuable insight into procurement and project related success criteria, as well as other practical success factors and challenges in a procurement process.

In recent years, Stian has worked extensively with projects in the field of public transport and mobility, and he is an expert in contracts and regulatory issues in this area. He has inter alia assisted with legal questions and contracts linked to new mobility solutions and business models, including autonomous vehicles, electrification of vehicles and mobility as a service (MaaS) in different forms.

Stian supports the M&A teams with IT and IP expertise in transactions.

Stian Hultin Oddbjørnsen has litigation experience in Norwegian courts, encompassing both standard hearings and provisional injunction proceedings at district courts and courts of appeal. Moreover, he has represented clients in several cases brought before the Norwegian Complaints Board on Public Procurement (Kofa).

He served as a deputy judge in Drammen District Court for more than two years, a period that provided valuable experience with the handling of court proceedings.
