Diego Peschiera specializes in banking law, financial and capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, as well as in corporate finance and project finance. He has broad experience leading local and cross-border financing operations for financial institutions, local and foreign corporate clients through the stock market.

His experience includes syndicated loan operations, debt issues in the local and international markets (senior and subordinated) under Rule 144A/Reg S, international securitizations, structuring of medium-term financing and large-scale projects (transmission lines, gas pipeline, ports, airports, hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants); acquisition offers, merger and spin-off processes of financial entities and other corporations (M&A); purchase of local and international credit portfolio, structured leasing operations, syndicated contracting in Peru and abroad, complex financial leases, corporate, regulatory and financial advisory.

He has participated in multiple relevant financing transactions, capital markets and M&A for the last 18 years in Peru, and is considered from 2008 to date among the best Peruvian financial lawyers according to prestigious international publications such as Chambers & Partners, Latin Lawyer, Legal 500 and IFLR1000 (Band 1 in Banking & Finance by Chambers & Partners 2017 and 2018). He is a professor of Banking and Financial Law in the postgraduate programs of ESAN University and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He is a frequent speaker on topics of his specialty.

Diego Peschiera served as in-house counsels at Peruvian commercial banks in the past, and consequently bring strong regulatory experience to the team. Peschiera is currently advising a syndicate of banks, including HSBC, BBVA Continental and Scotiabank Peru, on the amendment of a local security package granted by Israel Corporation. Together with counsel Paul Castritius, he also acted as local counsel to Credicorp Capital and Scotiabank Peru on an $89.5m bond issuance by Peruvian sugar producer Coazucar. In another capital markets highlight, the team was Peruvian counsel to The Central America Bottling Corporation regarding its $500m international debt issuance in January 2017.
