International law firm CMS has been awarded Law Firm of the Year in Poland and Hungary at the coveted Chambers Europe Awards 2022, held on 22 April in Madrid.
The Chambers Europe Awards recognise a law firm’s pre-eminence in key jurisdictions in the region. They also reflect achievements over the past 12 months including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth and excellence in client service. They honour the work of national and international law firms across the region based on the research for the recent edition of Chambers Europe.
Commenting on the firm’s recognition in Poland, Andrzej Posniak, Managing Partner for CMS in Poland, commented: “We’re very proud to have been recognised as Poland’s leading law firm by Chambers. The last year has been one of significant growth for our Polish practice, marked by significant expansion across Real Estate and Corporate, and our leading role on many of Poland’s largest transactions including InPost’s listing on the Euronext Amsterdam Stock Exchange – one of the largest IPOs of a Polish company to date. As reflected in our latest Chambers rankings, we continue to operate at the top end of the Polish market, with band 1 rankings achieved across the majority of our key practice and sector groups. We are confident that we can continue to strengthen our market-leading position in the years to come.”
Erika Papp, Managing Partner for CMS in Hungary, added: “It’s fantastic to be named as this year’s leading law firm in Hungary for the second consecutive year. We are pleased to have supported our clients on some of the market’s most significant financial sector transactions, including advising German Commerzbank AG on the sale of its subsidiary; HYPO-BANK BURGENLAND on the sale of Sopron Bank; and Corvinus Plc. on the acquisition of Aegon Hungary General Insurance Plc. and Union VIG Insurance Plc. We also pride ourselves in offering innovative managed legal services out of the country, providing global support to some of the largest global companies. We are delighted that Chambers has recognised our market-leading position and unwavering commitment to our clients.”
This recognition follows the firm’s win at the 2021 CIJ Awards in Hungary, where it was also awarded “Law Firm of the Year” for its standout work in the Real Estate sector.
The firm was also shortlisted at the Chambers Europe Awards 2022 in the Law Firm of the Year categories for CEE and Germany, and in the Pro Bono: Outstanding Firm category for its work in Hungary. Sam De Silva, CMS Partner in the UK was also nominated for his outstanding contribution to Diversity & Inclusion.
CMS is the only law firm in CEE to be acknowledged as a band 1 firm for every category in the CEE Chambers Global legal directory rankings.
