Maciej Ziółkowski, a Polish-qualified attorney-at-law, is a counsel in the Energy and Infrastructure Department at CMS Poland. He has over 12 years’ experience advising the largest Polish and international electricity, gas, heating and chemical companies.

He has advised on numerous M&A transactions on the Polish energy market, especially in the renewable energy sources (RES) sector. Among others, Maciej has recently successfully headed the acquisition of one of the largest onshore wind farms in Poland for a German investor and he advised on its construction process. He also recently led a transaction for one of the world’s largest investors in the RES sector comprising the successful acquisition of an operational windfarm in northern Poland. 

Maciej provides day-to-day legal and business advice on projects implemented in the Baltic Sea, primarily on issues related to the investment process for offshore gas pipelines and drilling platforms. His experience also covers advice to clients developing offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

He has significant professional experience in advising on EPC contracts for chemical industry facilities and power units, and also on contracts to supply RES installations as well as agreements covering the operation and maintenance of such facilities.

Maciej also has extensive experience in providing legal advice to clients in the oil & gas sector in investment processes concerning greenfield projects.

Relevant experience

  • A foreign investor on the implementation of a project comprising the construction of two offshore platforms and over 100km of the subsea gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, and the construction of an onshore gas treatment plant and gas pipeline with a length of 30km.
  • Stadtwerke München on the acquisition of as well as construction process concerning the onshore Jasna wind farm comprising 39 turbines with a total capacity of 132 MW, which is one of the largest wind farms in Poland.
  • Green Investment Group on the acquisition of the operational 48 MW onshore Zajączkowo windfarm.
  • A foreign investor on the purchase of a developed onshore wind farm in Poland with a total capacity of approx. 70 MW. 
  • A foreign investor on an operational onshore wind farm in Poland with a total capacity of 20 MW.
  • Modus Group on the development and sale of a solar farm portfolio with a total capacity of 45.4 MW.
