CMS takes home two awards at The Times’ Legal Innovation Awards in Romania

23 December 2019

CMS is delighted to announce that it has won two awards at The Times’ Legal Innovation Awards 2019, held last week in Bucharest. The firm was named Best International Law Firm of the Year for the third time in a row and also took home the award for Banking & Finance Best Law Firm of the Year.

The Times’ Legal Innovation Awards recognise law firms with exceptional expertise, experience and innovation. The awards also take into account professional skill, quality of service and the firm’s achievements in each practice area. Transactions Partner Horea Popescu collected the award for the Best International Law Firm in Romania in 2019, while Finance Partner Ana Radnev collected the award for Banking & Finance Best Law Firm of the Year.

The jury was particularly impressed with CMS Bucharest’s operational capacity as a fully integrated firm as well as its expertise, organisational culture, brand and professional development programmes. The firm was also praised for both its focus on, and use of, technological innovations in the legal domain.

Horea Popescu comments: “We are honored to be named The Best International Law Firm of the Year for the third consecutive year. This award win is confirmation of CMS' continued efforts to maintain its leading position in the Romanian legal market.”

CMS’ Banking & Finance team won over the jury with its mix of seasoned experts and talented young professionals, its history of top-notch transactions and its longstanding client relationships. The team’s ability to advise on a full spectrum of legal issues – ranging from finance, financial regulation to capital markets – was also named as an important factor in their decision-making.

Ana Radnev comments: “We feel very proud to have been awarded Banking & Finance Best Law Firm of the Year. The continued recognition of our Banking & Finance practice highlights the breadth and depth of our experience and our ability to service clients on the full range of their needs. Our team is now 17-strong and we’re gearing up for the next decade.”
