At CMS Russia, we have developed the Student Internship Programme which helps you combine your studies with the first steps in the legal profession.

What we offer

  • Two programmes, each featuring two one-month terms:
    • Winter programme (February and March)
    • Summer programme (July and August)
  • Programme highlights:
    • Highly intensive induction
    • Hard and soft skills trainings
    • Open floor with partners
  • Each intern will be assigned:
    • A mentor
    • A topic to write a memo on, in English, by the end of his/her term which his/her mentor will provide feedback on

    • Exposure to the environment of an international law firm

    • Potential future employment with the firm

Application process

  • CV submission deadline:
    • Winter programme – 15 December
    • Summer programme – 15 May
  • Combined test of Russian law and English language:
    • Three to four short and open-ended questions on Russian law
    • Several multiple choice questions
    • A contract clause for translation from English into Russian or vice versa
  • Interviews with one or two partners and associates from the practice groups

Candidate requirements

  • Enrolled in thirdfourth year Russian LLB or first year Russian LLM at a major Russian university
  • Fluent in English (other foreign languages is a plus)
  • Good research skills (Russian law databases)
