CMS Russia is pleased to announce that Elena Tchoubykina has joined the firm as a Counsel in the Banking & Finance practice.

Elena has extensive experience advising Russian and foreign financial institutions as well as Russian borrowers on a wide range of secured and unsecured financing transactions as well as restructurings, work-outs, insolvent liquidations and Eurobond issues (both standalone and programmes). Prior to joining CMS, Elena was a partner in the Banking & Finance practice of another well-known international law firm.

Elena is both Russian and English law qualified. She graduated with honours from the Legal Department of Moscow State University in 1999. She also became a solicitor in England & Wales in 2004.

This expansion goes in line with the growing demand for quality but smartly priced services in the Russian Banking & Finance market. Elena will work together with one of the leading finance teams in the market, recognised by international legal directories including Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, as well as being rated a top 5 Banking & Finance team in Russia by Kommersant.

Jean-Francois Marquaire, the managing partner of CMS, Russia, comments: “I strongly believe that Elena’s impressive experience coupled with the market knowledge will be a great addition to our Banking & Finance and Capital Markets expertise, while her English law qualification will reinforce CMS’ Banking & Finance offering with in-house Russian and English law capabilities.”

Konstantin Baranov, the Head of Banking & Finance and Capital Markets practices in Russia, says: “I am confident that Elena’s strong background and market knowledge will enable us to further improve the quality of our services and to provide our clients with high quality business-focused advice.”
