CMS Expands with Two Mergers in 2014

The competences of the CMS alliance will be expanded by two mergers in 2014. The English location will merge with the leading Scottish law firm Dundas & Wilson as of May 1. In Switzerland, Erlach Henrici Ltd, Zurich, and ZPG Avocats SA, Geneva, will become CMS von Erlach Poncet as of March.

Through the merger of CMS and Dundas & Wilson, CMS will be represented in the three financial hubs of Great Britain: London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Merging the two law firms and thus increasing the number of locations meets the requirements of many joint clients, who will benefit from enhanced flexibility and an expanded local presence. Joint consultations have so far focused on the energy and finance sectors. This focus will in future be expanded and strengthened through the merger.

Peter Huber, Managing Partner CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, says, “We are proud that a leading Scottish law firm is joining our team, which makes for an excellent addition to our competences and services.”

In Switzerland, CMS is happy to announce the merger of CMS von Erlach Henrici Ltd, Zurich, and ZPG Avocats SA, Geneva, into CMS von Erlach Poncet. Through this merger, Geneva is added to the long list of CMS locations. CMS von Erlach Poncet provides its clients with top-class specialised expertise in both financial and trading hubs in Switzerland.

Cornelius Brandi, Chairman of the CMS Executive Committee, comments, “The role of Switzerland as a leading strategic economic and financial hub in Europe makes it a key market for CMS and our clients. CMS von Erlach Poncet employs highly qualified lawyers, who cover key industries in Zurich and Geneva. Through this merger, we are substantially increasing our capacities, moving forward the market penetration in an important country, and proving our commitment to expanding CMS in accordance with the growing requirements of our clients.”
