The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) is having a significant impact on every aspect of our lives in Ukraine and in other countries. Declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation in March 2020, everyone’s primary concern is to minimise the spread of the virus, to mitigate its effects.

Businesses and organisations have a role to play and a responsibility to their own people. They also confront a wide range of practical, commercial and legal challenges associated with the spread of the virus.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) webinar – key aspects of employment, commercial and banking matters

This webinar from CMS (Ukraine) looks at the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on business relationships and employers’ duties to staff, including practical steps that businesses can take to reduce disruptions. 

The CMS team including partners Olga Belyakova and Ihor Olekhov, senior associate Natalia Nakonechna and associate Mykola Heletiy provide updates on the most frequent questions with regard to the situation including:

  • how employers can deal with the virus inside their company (including mandatory medical examinations, bans on trips abroad, monitoring the geography of the employee’s business and private trips, ‘quarantine in schools’ matters for employees with kids)
  • what businesses could do to address the risks of the coronavirus outbreak (contract matters, non-performance of contracts, liability for damages, early termination due to force majeure circumstances, insurance matters etc.)
  • banking matters that may arise and useful methods to mitigate potential risks and losses
