CMS Cameron McKenna assists Wizz Air to take off in Ukraine

CMS Cameron McKenna has acted as special Ukrainian law legal counsel to Wizz Air Ukraine Airlines LLC in its efforts to secure delivery of the low cost airline’s first aircraft. CMS Cameron McKenna started working with Wizz Air on the transaction at the end of April this year, successfully working toward the first flight which took place on 11 July.

CMS Cameron McKenna advised Wizz Air with respect to the sub-lease of an Airbus A320-200 aircraft into Ukraine. On 27 June the transaction was successfully closed and the aircraft was delivered to Ukraine.

Passengers can now benefit from affordable domestic flights. International flights are planned as soon as the route designations are secured as soon as this fall..

The transaction was led by Olexander Martinenko, Kyiv Senior Partner and Head of Commercial and assisted by lawyers Yevheniya Paliy and Yaroslav Petrov.

CMS Cameron McKenna opened in Kyiv in September 2007 and was the first UK-headquartered law firm to open in Ukraine. The office comprises five partners and more than 35 lawyers, and has already undertaken extensive work for clients such as HypoReal, Eurohypo and West LB.
