Nonkululeko is a Candidate Attorney at CMS South Africa.

She obtained her LLB degree from the University of South Africa in 2021 while working full-time for Absa Bank Limited. Prior to joining CMS, she worked as an Executive Assistant to the General Counsel of Absa Group Limited and also assisted the Head of Commercial Legal and the Head of Competition. In her role she provided executive level operational, administrative and technical support which ensured the effective running of operations in the Shared Services department. 

Nonkululeko has more than 10 years working experience and has occupied various roles including the role of Executive Assistant to the CEO and COO of Citibank in South Africa. Through her work experience, she has developed the ability of good organisational skills, multitasking and problem solving.

Relevant experience

  • Mezzanine Debt Fund Partnership – acted as mezz lenders counsel in relation to the provision of a mezzanine term loan, in an amount of ZAR75 000 000, to a provider of micro loans for the refinancing of certain existing obligations and general working capital purposes. 
  • A group of lenders including International Finance Corporation, Absa Bank Limited and Rand Merchant Bank (acting through its Corporate and Investment Banking division) - on the US$ 650 million notes issuance and ZAR1.5 billion financing for Petra Diamonds, the Southern African diamond mining group.
  • Nedbank (as lender to Talbot Integrated Services Proprietary Limited) – in relation to the senior and mezzanine term loan facilities, in aggregate, in the amount of ZAR67 200 000 for purposes of funding the construction of a water recovery plant at Kariega, Eastern Cape.
  • Development Bank of Southern Africa - acted as lender's counsel in relation to a senior debt facility of ZAR 38 million towards the implementation of the Hull Street Social Housing Development Project (‘Project’) in the Northern Cape. The Project aims to develop, finance, lease and maintain 372 housing units for qualified beneficiaries.
  • South African Home Loans Investment Holdings – assisted with the drafting of an opinion in respect of company dividend declarations.
