Pooja obtained her BCom Law with majors in Financial Accounting and Taxation in 2019 and LLB (Cum Laude) in 2020 from the University of Pretoria.  Subsequently Pooja obtained her LL.M in Labour Law (Cum Laude) at the same institution. 

Prior to joining CMS, Pooja worked as a labour consultant at a professional services company. Her experience ranges from drafting and reviewing employment contracts, workplace counselling, as well as conducting large-scale and small-scale retrenchment consultations. She has gained experience in negotiating terms and conditions of employment with renowned trade unions in the mining and motor engineering sector. 

Pooja has experience in advising and assisting with litigious and non-litigious employment and labour matters. These include transfers of employment, drafting employment and labour due diligence reports, representation at the CCMA, unfair dismissal and unfair labour practice matters, review applications at the Labour Court, and drafting and amending employment contracts and workplace policies and procedures. 

She has gained experience in advising across multiple industries for both national and multinational clients, including but not limited to, those in the professional services, financial services, mining, renewable energy, information and technology industries.

  • An African expansion finance institution – providing a full house employment law service, including but not limited to advising and assisting in relation to matters involving employee misconduct relating to procurement processes, alleged harassment and internal investigations.
  • A multinational bank – advising and assisting in internal disciplinary enquiries as well as external employment litigation matters.
  • A large multinational technology and information company – providing a full house employment law service, including but not limited to internal disciplinary enquiries and external employment litigation matters, employment document review, and restructuring processes.
  • A UK asset management company – advising on implementing an international remote working policy, addressing complex employment and labour and occupational health and safety implications.
