Jeanette Yu more than 20 years’ experience in providing advice for international companies on labour law issues and compliance management. Her extensive track record comprises recruitment and dismissal of employees, formulating employee handbooks and implementing its policies, work permits and visa issues of expatriates, international secondment, data privacy, non-competition, social security, trade union and labour disputes. She has also been involved in significant projects of business transactions and restructuring advising clients on employee transfer, relocation and lay-off of employees as well as negotiation of employment contracts and separation agreements. 

Jeanette Yu also supports clients in their compliance management such as applying the relevant policies in local companies, advising on corporate governance such as limitations on power of senior management and use of company seals, implementing the code of conduct such as anti-corruption, secondary occupation restriction, avoidance of conflict of interests, data security and whistle-blower management. She also conducts compliance audits and internal investigations for clients, provides compliance trainings to employees, etc.

Since 2017, Jeanette has been acting as the National Chair/Vice Chair of HR Working Group of European Chamber of Commerce in China. This year Jeanette was elected as the National Chair of HR Working Group of European Chamber of Commerce in China.

  • Advising a major German automotive supplier on the settlement of employees due to the closure of its Shanghai subsidiary. 
  • Advising a provider of automation systems, communication and navigation systems on the disputes with employees regarding not duly concluding written employment contract. 
  • Advising the world's largest innovator and provider of optics technology and solutions on a series of employment issues of an acquisition of three domestic companies. 
  • Advising a leading German mechanical and hydraulic presses manufacturer on employment contract on a senior local executive employed for its Chinese subsidiary. 
  • Advising the Chinese subsidiaries of a major German equipment manufacturer on a series of employment issues for its Chinese subsidiaries including labour contracts for mid-senior managements, employee handbook, social security issues and termination of employees. 
  • Advising the Chinese subsidiary of one of the world's largest producers of paper and fibre products on termination of employment contract of an employee on senior level. 
  • Advising a major European automotive supplier on employment issues in the acquisition of assets of a PRC company limited by shares. 
  • Advising a leading company in consumer goods industry on a series of employment issues for its Chinese subsidiaries, including labour contracts for mid-senior managements, employee handbook, social security issues and termination of employees. 
  • Advising a German automotive components manufacturer on employment issues relating to the closure of its Chinese subsidiary as well as labour arbitrations.
  • A German dimensional measuring equipment manufacturer on the review and amendments of collective labour contracts.
