Artificial Intelligence – how to navigate the legal and regulatory pitfalls

Webinar series: Artificial Intelligence

Past event
08 June 2021, 14:30 - 15:30 UTC +02:00

Organised together with Omina Technologies

The development and use of artificial intelligence comes with legal and regulatory challenges.  For example, data protection laws restrict the use of personal data to train AI-models. The outcome of AI-assisted processes may also raise legal issues.  For example, Gartner, the consultancy firm, predicts that through 2022, a staggering 85% of AI projects will deliver erroneous outcomes due to bias in data, algorithms or the teams responsible for managing them. This may lead to damage claims or sanctions for violations of anti-discrimination laws, data protection laws, etc..

AI raises questions as to accountability: who is legally responsible and thus liable if anything goes wrong? What about ownership of intellectual property rights in AI-assisted creations and inventions?

During this session we will look into the legal and regulatory aspects of AI and how to address them.
