CMS UK Celebrates Diverse and Inclusive Culture

Annual Review 2017-2018

June 2018

2017 – 18 was a great year for diversity and inclusion at CMS UK.

In the autumn, CMS UK organised an international Diversity & Inclusion Festival which saw employees across the UK and international locations organise a variety of events to celebrate diversity. The eight employee-led networks hosted panel events where clients were invited to discuss topical issues. The Inclusion Fair offered the opportunity for colleagues to meet with the internal teams that are dedicated to help them and their careers flourish. As a result of increased engagement, three new networks were launched over the past year: the Muslim Network, the Social Mobility Network and the Families and Carers Network.

CMS has renewed its partnership with Pride in London for the sixth year running as their official pro bono legal services provider.

In 2017, CMS provided over 280 hours of legal advice to the LGBT organisation.

On International Women’s Day (8 March), we hosted a number of internal and client events celebrating women’s achievements and successes across the firm and internationally.

In order to celebrate diversity, we launched ‘I’m In!’. The campaign showcased colleagues from across the UK and internationally who shared their personal stories. The campaign highlighted the richness of diversity among our people and demonstrated that while we have our own individual identities, we all share the same cultural values.

CMS continues to be recognised externally for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. We were again listed in The Times’ Top 50 Employers for Women and ranked 26 (rising five places) in Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers Index 2017. We were also Highly Commended at The Law Society Excellence Awards for our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
