Results of SDE+ subsidy 2018 spring application round published

28/08/2018

Last week the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate announced the results of the SDE+ subsidy 2018 spring application round. Please find attached the overview of applicants that are awarded SDE+ subsidy, as well as information on their projects. Please note, that after the announcement of the Minister, RVO notified that the allocated budget mentioned in this announcement for onshore wind is incorrect and will be rectified as soon as possible.

In total RVO received 4,535 SDE+ subsidy applications (for a total budget claim of EUR 5.3 billion). 3,899 projects were granted SDE+ subsidy, of which solar is by far the largest source with 3,774 projects. The available budget of EUR 6 billion has been allocated just a little over 50%, with 'only' a total of EUR 3.6 billion granted. The main reason for the underuse of the budget is the significant decrease in applications for onshore wind projects. In the SDE+ 2017 autumn round EUR 2.7 billion was granted to 215 wind projects, compared to EUR 149 million for 45 projects this spring round. The Minister points out that a few big wind projects are expected to apply for SDE+ subsidy during the 2018 autumn round. Also notable is the increase in biomass with a total SDE+ subsidy of EUR 947 million granted this spring round in relation to an aggregate maximum capacity of 399 MW, compared to EUR 270 million in the 2017 autumn round in relation to an aggregate maximum capacity of 99 MW.

The SDE+ 2018 autumn round will be opened from 2 October – 8 November 2018.
