21/09/2015

"Obscurity of food standards in China may trigger barriers for foreign traders who would like to sell their products to China. Such obscurity of standards are also not in line with PRC government policies which would like to increase consumption through import and cancel non tariff barriers” said Nicolas Zhu, Partner and Head of Lifesciences Sector Group in China, as a panel speaker at the VI International Conference on Bioethics organized by the International Association of Law, Ethics and Science, Université Jean Monnet and Université Jean Moulin. The conference was held on September 17-18, 2015 in Saint Etienne and Lyon.

During a panel presentation and discussion, Nicolas introduced the status of food safety environment in China and the newly revised China Food Safety Law and Chinese food standards and their important impact on imported foods. He also pointed out that failure in compliance with Chinese food regulations may lead to both legal and commercial risks. Nicolas concluded his presentation by sharing a few practical solutions or reflections that help facilitate imported foods business in China.

The conference mainly focused on how to deal with emerging crises in human health that are caused in the process of food production, distribution and consumption with international focus in Russia, Japan, Brazil and China. Audiences are companies, lawyers, professors and students in the areas of medical, health law and administrative law.
