Sustainable Corporate Strategy

Back to Corporate governance & risk compliance

Sustainability and environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) have increasingly become the focus of legislators. As a consequence of the European Green Deal, the EU Commission announced a sustainable corporate governance initiative for 2021. The aim is to embed the environmental, social, humanitarian and economic impacts of corporate decisions more firmly in corporate governance. Alongside strengthening the role of management in pursuing long-term corporate interests, the intention is to make management accountable with regard to integrating sustainability into corporate strategy.

The CMS Governance & Risk Compliance team supports the governing bodies of companies from a wide range of sectors in exploring their current options for action, taking into account upcoming legislative changes relating to ESG at national and European level.
