In late October, the “Venice Sustainable Fashion Forum 2022”, the first international summit dedicated exclusively to sustainability in the fashion industry, was held in Venice at the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
Divided into two days of work, the first entitled “Just Fashion Transition” and the second entitled “The Values of Fashion”, the event was an opportunity for institutions, companies, professionals and NGOs to analyse, through an articulated program of presentations, debates and round tables, the environmental and social impacts of the fashion system, to assess in terms of sustainability the conduct of companies in the supply chain, to promote the adoption of best practices and to formulate recommendations and proposals to be presented to Italian and international institutions in order to accelerate as much as possible the social and ecological transition in the relevant sector.
During the forum, there was also a presentation of Re.Crea, a consortium founded by the Prada Group, Dolce&Gabbana, MaxMara Fashion Group, Moncler Group, OTB Group and Ermenegildo Zegna Group to promote research and development of innovative solutions in end-of-life textile products management.
The forum, which aims to become the annual benchmark event on the topic of sustainability in the fashion industry, had a great media coverage: in fact, the fashion industry, which is one of the industries with the greatest environmental impact, cannot fail to place itself at the centre of the global debate on sustainability and become a promoter of solutions for a fast and effective social and ecological transition.
