New Provisions Introducing Electronic Meal Vouchers in Romania

We are pleased to invite you and your colleagues to join us for CMS Cameron McKenna's breakfast briefing on 'New Provisions Introducing Electronic Meal Vouchers in Romania'.

The aim of this briefing is to provide employers with an overview of the legal and practical consequences triggered by the recent amendments in the legislation regulating the granting of meal vouchers to their employees.

We will look at the obligations relating to the electronic meal vouchers mainly from the side of the employer, as well as the potential impact of the new legislation on how the voucher granting scheme will work. We will also cover some practical recommendations regarding the agreements to be entered into by the employers with their employees and with the issuers of meal vouchers, in order to address some of the legal challenges arising from the new legislation.

The programme will include short presentations on:

1. The new provisions introducing the electronic meal voucher: an overview
   We will cover the impact these provisions have on the mechanism for granting meal vouchers, including the scope of obligations incumbent upon the parties involved, with a focus on the perspective of the employer. We will also provide a comparative overview of the legal framework applicable to electronic meal vouchers vs. paper meal vouchers.
   
   
2. Practical recommendations
   We will look closely at the potential legal challenges arising from the new provisions introducing electronic meal vouchers. We will also offer practical recommendations on implementing the new rules, as well as on mitigating potential risks arising from the gray areas in the new legislation, in particular recommendations for contractual provisions addressing these risks.
