CMS is pleased to invite you to a morning of panel discussions on investment opportunities between Romania and Poland with a particular focus on capital markets and financial services.

The event will take place in Bucharest, and will include guest speakers from the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Romania, the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Deutsche Bank, INC, Ipopema, Carpathia Capital and others.

Ludwik Sobolewski
CEO, Bucharest Stock Exchange

Ludwik Sobolewski was appointed as CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in August 2013. Before joining BVB, Sobolewski was President and CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) between 2006 and 2013. During his mandate, WSE became the leading stock exchange in CEE and a listed company on its own regulated market since 2010, after the rolling of a successful IPO. Sobolewski supported the business development of the stock exchange, by attracting new companies for listing, increasing the number of international members of the WSE, and by promoting the services and products of the exchange. He also played an active role in the creation of the capital market infrastructure, with NewConnect, a market for start-ups, early stage and small and medium-size companies, with Catalyst market, the first organized, exchange-type market for non-treasury debt securities in Poland, with the BondSpot SA and the Polish Power Exchange SA acquisition.

Bogumil Kloc
Vice President, Investor Services Sales, Institutional Cash & Securities Services, Deutsche Bank

Bogumil, Vice President, Investor Services Sales, Institutional Cash & Securities Services, has been at Deutsche Bank since 2005 covering the CEE Region. He has 10 years' experience in the industry, covering sell & buy side institutional clients, across Funds Services, Custody, Clearing, Securities Lending, and Operations. During his carrier, Bogumil has held multiple industry roles, including Board Member position at Polish Association of Brokers and Investment Advisers. He also holds Polish FSA brokerage license.



Michael Harvey
Managing Director, Ipopema

Michael is a Managing Director covering Equity Capital Markets at IPOPEMA Securities. He has over 25 years of experience in Investment Banking, and has been involved in the CEE region, particularly with the Polish equity market, since the early 1990’s. Previously worked in London and Warsaw with JPMorgan, Flemings, Barings and Salomon Brothers. By background an equity analyst, he initially covered the Spanish and Italian equity markets. Michael has an MBA from the Warwick Business School, and an MA (Hons) from the University of St. Andrews.

Paweł Śliwiński
Professor (Poznań University of Economics), CEO of INC S.A. (AeRO Authorized Advisor) and CEO of Carpathia Capital (listed on the AeRO)

Paweł Śliwiński is Professor at the Chair of International Finance at the Poznan University of Economics. In his academic research he specializes in international finance, corporate finance and capital markets. Paweł Śliwiński is Executive Chairman/CEO and main shareholder of INC S.A. - a public company listed on the Main Market of Warsaw Stock Exchange. INC is an investment and advisory company specializing in the field of capital markets and investments. INC has already introduced shares of more than 50 companies to the Warsaw Stock Exchange (both Main Market and NewConnect market). INC S.A. is also the company which this year became Authorized Adviser on the Romanian AeRO market. It acts as Authorized Advisor of two companies: Bittnes Systems S.A. and Carpathia Capital S.A, which this year debuted on the AeRO market. Paweł Śliwiński is also the President of the Carpathia Capital, which operates as a venture capital/ private equity in the area of Romania and it acquires shares and other securities issued by companies included in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises with the base in Romania. The company has the resources raised from private placement in a total amount of approximatively RON 10 million reached to invest in promising high-growth Romanian companies.

Marek Sawicki
Partner, Co-Head of Corporate and M&A in Poland

Marek focuses on M&A, Private Equity and Venture Capital transactions, and also on the Lifesciences sector. He has extensive background in leading cross-border deals. His clients include both institutional entities and private businesses. Marek has been repeatedly recommended by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe, the leading global guide to legal profession, in both M&A and Private Equity categories. The Chambers Europe 2013 singles Marek out as a Corporate / M&A and Private Equity expert, who "is a skilful negotiator" and "a deal maker, pleasant to work with, he ensures the sustainability of a high-quality service". Recently Marek advised on acquisition of Medivet by Henry Schein and of Farma Projekt by Recordati.

Cristina Reichmann (Vîrtopeanu)
Partner, Head of Capital Markets and Financial Services in Romania

Cristina has over fifteen years of experience advising on banking, capital markets and corporate law, as well as on financial instruments and services. Cristina’s expertise includes all types of FIS related projects on both the transactional and regulatory side, as well as capital market financing. In addition, Cristina has broad experience in regulatory aspects related to the operation of financial markets and operators, European directives and regulations on capital markets and financial instruments, derivatives, portfolio transfers, as well as securitised operations and structured financings. She is recognised in the International Financial Law Review’s guide to law firms as a leading banking and capital markets lawyer in Romania and in Chambers Europe’s rankings for Capital Markets. Cristina is a member of the Arbitration Chamber of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Horea Popescu
Partner, Head of Corporate and M&A in Romania

A Bucharest-based corporate partner, Horea has broad experience in advising on all aspects of corporate and M&A transactions in Romania and CEE region and has worked on some of the most significant transactions to take place in Romania in recent years. Horea advises a variety of international clients on transactional and regulatory matters with respect to their acquisitions or divestments in Romania. He specialises in M&A, capital markets transactions, corporate transactions, competition law, private equity, privatisations, restructuring and commercial transactions, and tax. Horea was recently described in the International Financial Law Review’s guide to leading law firms as ‘very quick, attentive, intelligent, a good coordinator with very good communication skills’. While Chambers Global states: Horea Popescu is a "commercial, smart and fast" M&A lawyer, who "anticipates the issues that may come up in a case."
