Anca Elena Toma is an associate in the Dispute Resolution Department at CMS Bucharest office, focusing on corporate criminal law and compliance. Anca has experience in criminal defence of companies as well as senior executives facing bribery and corruption allegations. She also has experience advising multinational companies across the industry sectors of Life Sciences, Energy, Technology and Communications on for high-risk and very sensitive cases. Anca regularly advises clients on criminal investigations and has been involved in conducting internal investigations, drafting criminal defence strategies, analysing criminal cases and assessing prosecutorial investigations.

Her practice includes corporate investigations, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud, dispute resolution, data protection, as well as general commercial and contract advice. Anca works on cross-jurisdictional matters with CMS lawyers across CEE, Europe and beyond, including US lawyers and clients. Prior to joining our office, Anca was an intern at the Romanian Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cessation and Justice assisting prosecutors in conducting criminal investigations and attaining insides of the other side of a criminal defence.
