Claudia is a senior counsel in the Corporate team in Romania. Claudia assists a variety of international and domestic clients across a wide range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on energy, technology, media and communications, manufacturing and financial sectors. 

Her practice includes mergers & acquisitions, competition, regulatory and commercial issues. Claudia has wide experience working on multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions throughout Eastern Europe and beyond, regularly working with colleagues throughout CMS and elsewhere. Claudia was also seconded to CMS London from 2016 to 2017, where she was involved in a wide range of EU and international matters. 

Claudia also regularly advises clients on numerous competition law matters such as merger control and foreign direct investments, including both local projects (e.g. with the Romanian Competition Council) and EU in projects with the European Commission.

Relevant experience

  • Ahold Delhaize on strategic investment in Romania: its agreement to acquire leading Romanian grocery retailer Profi Rom Food from private equity firm MidEuropa for a consideration of EUR 1.3bn (corresponding to lease-adjusted Enterprise Value of EUR 1.8 billion).The deal marks the largest grocery deal ever in continental Europe involving private equity and makes regional history as the largest grocery deal ever in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania.
  • Aquila Capital on the acquisition from Metka/Mytilineos of 100% of the shares in four (4) special purpose vehicles which hold all the project rights to four (4) photovoltaic projects in Romania, with a combined installed capacity of almost 300 MW.
  • Entek Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., a Koç group company engaged in the energy sector, on the acquisition of a 214.26 MWdc solar power project under development, from UK-based Econergy International Ltd.
  • OTP Group on OTP Bank Romania’s sale to Banca Transilvania.
  • NewCold Coöperatief UA on the acquisition of a software development company in Romania.
  • Investment fund Innova Capital and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the sale of their remaining stake in EnergoBit.
