Edwina Udrescu is a senior associate in CMS’s Bucharest Office with over 18 years of experience in business law. She has extensive experience in construction, energy, infrastructure, civil construction projects, and project finance, as well as in international arbitration and construction disputes. 

Throughout her career, Edwina has coordinated multi-jurisdictional projects in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Edwina focuses on negotiating and drafting EPC/EPCM contracts in renewable energy (onshore wind and photovoltaic power plants), as well as turbine supply agreements and balance of plant agreements, acting either for the contractors, employers or lenders. She also handles SAA and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) agreements as well as other related supply and procurement contracts through various sectors. She is actively involved in nuclear projects, assisting on the procurement, engineering, construction and refurbishment of nuclear reactors in Romania. 

Previously, she led the legal department of the Romanian branch of a French construction company, offering consultancy on commercial and construction deals (FIDIC, EPC), concessions, infrastructure projects, public procurements, and internal and international commercial arbitration under CICA and ICC Rules.

Relevant experience

  • Nala Renewables (Nala), a global power and renewable energy investment platform and independent power producer, on the acquisition of a 99.2 MW onshore wind project from OX2, one of Europe's leading developers of renewable energy sources.
  • Candu Energy (Candu), an AtkinsRéalis company specialising in the design and supply of nuclear reactors, on a public procurement contract with Romanian nuclear power company Nuclearelectrica.
  • An international JV comprised of Fluor, Candu Energy Inc, and Sargent & Lundy on the construction management of the Cernavoda Units 3 and 4 Nuclear Facility in Romania
  • Rezolv Energy and Low Carbon (through their project subsidiary First Look Solutions S.R.L.) on EUR 291m financing for the VIFOR wind farm project in Romania.
  • Helleniq Energy Holdings on the acquisition of a 211 MW portfolio of four solar projects developed in Romania by Mytilineos (now known as Metlen) Energy & Metals.
  • A global leader in nuclear technology, on commercial contracting, public procurement, labor and employment, energy regulatory and governmental affairs regarding the development of a nuclear power plant in Romania.
