Mitchell is an Associate in the CMS Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes practice based in Riyadh. He has a depth of experience advising on complex construction, infrastructure and engineering disputes proceedings across Middle East, Asia-Pacific, UK, Europe, and Africa.

Mitchell has acted on high-value international and domestic arbitrations under the UNCITRAL, ICSID, and ACICA rules and litigation proceedings before the senior courts of Australia and England & Wales. His sector experience includes advising and acting for clients in respect of offshore oil and gas pipelines and refineries, waste to energy facilities, mining infrastructure, rail and other transport projects.

Relevant experience

  • A European multinational oilfield services company on its USD 1.9bn UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings arising from the construction of offshore LNG loading infrastructure and other maritime structures.*
  • A leading Australian construction contractor on its ACICA arbitration proceedings in relation to a dispute valued at USD 250m arising from the design and construction of a USD 1.8bn upgrade to a large rail network and maintenance facility in Australia.*
  • A European construction and infrastructure company on its contractual repudiation dispute with a subcontractor to a major Australian renewable energy infrastructure project.*
  • A Dutch-Australian mining joint venture on its dispute with an African state arising from numerous international investment treaty breaches in respect of a large tantalum mine.*
