Senior Associate

Wala Alawajy

Wala Alawajy is a Senior Associate in the Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes team, based in Riyadh. She has extensive experience in disputes and regularly represents clients before the Commercial Courts, General Court, Labour Court, the Board of Grievances, the IDC, the GSTC, ICC and the SCCA.

She has advised on a wide range of regional and international disputes, including in relation to infrastructure and construction projects. She has also acted for independent and international companies on a broad range of contentious issues and is experienced in international arbitration.

Relevant experience

  • Advised and represented clients on disputes related to trade and commercial contracts, construction, marine, IP, aviation, government contracts, insurance claims and labour disputes.
  • Represented clients before the Commercial Courts, General Court, Labour Court, the Board of Grievances, the IDC, the GSTC, ICC and the SCCA.
  • Successfully defended a client before the IDC in a compensation claim for SAR 42 million.
  • Successfully defended a client before the Board of Grievances in proceedings brought by government entity and obtained a decision in favour of the client.
  • Acted for a Chinese Construction Contractor in several disputes proceedings before KSA Commercial Courts.
  • Acted for a JV in relation to several disputes arising out of a National Project in both local courts and ICC.
  • Advised and acted for a Turkish Company against a local trader.
  • Advised and acted for a New Zealander supplier against a local distributor.
  • Advised and acted for a JV in relation to disputes arising out of expansion project.
  • Successfully acted for Middle Eastern Company to recover over SAR 15 million from local contractors.
  • Managed client’s cases in local disputes.
  • Developed detailed litigation strategies for clients.
  • Assisted in International and Local Arbitration Disputes.
