CMS is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Millar as Executive Partner, effective 1 April 2026.
He will join the CMS Executive Team alongside Chairman Pierre‑Sébastien Thill, Vice-Chairman Hubertus Kolster and Executive Director Isabel Scholes. Working in close coordination with the CMS Executive Committee, the Executive Team leads the CMS organisation.
Stephen Millar has served as Managing Partner of CMS UK for the past ten years and has been with CMS for more than two decades. He succeeds Duncan Weston, who served a ten‑year term as Executive Partner.
Pierre‑Sébastien Thill said: “During Duncan’s tenure as Executive Partner, CMS grew significantly, with revenues exceeding EUR 2bn and expansion into new jurisdictions across Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. He played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s strategic direction, and we thank him for his outstanding leadership and contribution.
The Executive Team and I are looking forward to working with Stephen. He brings deep experience from leading the UK firm through growth and change, along with a strong international perspective, which will be invaluable as we continue to build on the success of our firm.”
Commenting on his appointment, Stephen Millar said: “CMS has real global scale and expertise, but what sets it apart is the strength of its relationships and the way our people work together. That gives us a very strong platform for growth. As Executive Partner and member of the CMS Executive Team, my focus will be on unlocking that potential, while fostering the next generation of partners and steering the firm through the rapid transformation of our profession. Together, we have a clear opportunity to strengthen CMS’s position as a truly global firm.”
