The team of six competition lawyers from CEE shared the experience from their respective countries on the topic of exchange of sensitive information

Last week (12 and 13 May 2022), our team of competition lawyers from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, and North Macedonia, represented CMS Competition practice at the 7th Competition law and policy conference in memory of the late Professor Vardan Šoljan held in Opatija, Croatia.

The team, composed of Marija Zrno Prošić (Croatia), Srđan Janković (Serbia & Montenegro), Marija Filipovska (North Macedonia), Robert Kordić (Slovenia), Lucija Vranešević (Croatia) and Zlatko Kujundjiski (North Macedonia), spent two days in interactive discussions with representatives of competition authorities, judges, attorneys, in-house lawyers, and other legal practitioners from all over Europe.

This year’s topics included e-commerce and vertical restraints, reform of horizontal guidelines, the Digital Markets Act and e-platforms, right of defence and competition law, challenges to competition law enforcement in CEE and SEE countries, and recent competition law developments in the CEE/SEE region.

Marija Zrno Prošić, Srdjan Janković and Robert Kordić shared their experience on the exchange of sensitive information in their respective countries. Marija Zrno Prošić also shared key takeaways from recent practice of the competition agency and courts in Croatia.

The team spent their first conference evening pleasantly networking at the cocktail and dinner with conference attendees.

See their impressions from the conference in the videos below.

About the Conference:

The Conference traditionally offers a platform for discussion about recent antitrust developments, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South-East Europe (SEE). The Conference is supported by the Croatian Competition Agency, universities and local organisations, with great speakers from the OECD, European Commission, universities, industry and regulators from the entire region and Europe.
