Mari Deris is a Lawyer with the Muscat Office since 2019. Before joining the Oman office, she worked in the corporate team of CMS Iran office as a lawyer for more than 2 years.  Mari was admitted as a solicitor in Iran Central Bar Association in 2014. She has advised a variety of local and international companies in both private and public sector on corporate and commercial matters for both Oman and Iran jurisdictions. 

Mari has been involved in a range of corporate matters such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, company formations, corporate restructurings, as well as general contract matters and drafting and reviewing different types of agreements.  

In addition, Mari advises corporate entities, government institutions and joint ventures on dispute resolution, media and entertainment and telecommunications matters.

  • Several US, Korean and Chinese companies on arbitration agreement with Iranian private and public companies and the enforcement of arbitration awards in Iran. 
  • Clients on different aspects of Iranian laws including the Iranian Civil Code, the Commercial Code and laws relevant to abitration.
  • A US company in relation to a dispute arising under a contract with an Iranian entity for supply of commodities.
  • Local shareholders in different Omani Companies in relation to shareholders dispute based on Commercial Companies Law and Civil Code of Oman.
  • Reviewing and advising on different types of contracts based on Oman Laws including Employment Agreement, Agency Agreement, Service Agreement, Share Purchase Agreement, Shareholder Agreement, Constitutive Contract of the company etc.
  • A multinational company on bankruptcy legal procedure in an Omani Limited Liability Company.
  • The Royal Bank of Scotland PLC on several topics on banking laws in Oman.
  • A Delivered Support Agreement for an Omani power tech company as an end user to purchase certain software from a multinational company.
  • Three world leading high-tech companies on Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) matters.
  • One of the top media companies worldwide on key legislations for foreign SVOD providers under Omani laws and regulations.
