Austin Judson is a partner in real estate, who acts for a range of clients including real estate developers, funds, landlords and occupiers. He has also acted for administrators, receivers and liquidators on insolvency and restructuring transactions. Austin has over 28 years’ experience working on transactions which include acquisition and disposals, real estate finance, real estate insolvency and restructuring, investment management and landlord and tenant matters.

Austin is noted for his unique perspective on development transactions which enables him to anticipate and accommodate funder and other stakeholder requirements early and create structures that reflect and respect them. Relevant experience

  • Moda Living in acquiring a long term, flexible purchase and development agreement at a strategically significant site in Birmingham.
  • Large corporate, household name occupier in relation to the acquisition of leases of regional head office buildings with rents at over £4m and £3m per year.
  • Scarborough Group in relation to the letting of a head office building for Lowell Group at Thorpe Park which was the largest office letting in the Northern Powerhouse in 2022 and the largest out of town office letting in Leeds.
  • Joint venture between UK developer and North American fund structuring, acquiring and funding the development of related blocks of BTR with a GDV of over £600m.
  • Joint venture between developer and UK fund on structuring, estate set up and letting of an out of town retail and leisure park which was the largest retail park to open in the UK in 2019.
  • US Fund in the work out of a distressed loan book of real estate assets with a value of over £1.5bn.
  • Acted for administrators or purchasers from administration of a number of Premier League and Championship football clubs.
  • Household name developer as "master developer" in estate set up, infrastructure delivery and development plot disposal of a high profile scheme in Manchester involving 3000+ residential units, 1million square feet of commercial and infrastructure.
