Annie is a construction and infrastructure lawyer who specialises in the resolution of disputes arising out of the infrastructure, construction and energy sectors. She acts for domestic and international clients, advising all parties in the contractual chain including principals, contractors, subcontractors and industry professionals. She also has experience in non-contentious matters including contract preparation and negotiation, risk assessment and allocation and contract management. 

Annie is Australian qualified and previously practised in Australia where she gained substantial construction litigation experience pursuing and defending complex construction claims arising from variations, delays and disruptions, liquidated damages and performance bonds claims. 

Relevant experience

  • A joint-venture of Spanish and Turkish contractors concerning multiple intra-consortium disputes and a dispute with the Employer on a US$3bn metro rail project in the Middle East. ICC Arbitration with a total dispute value in excess of US$250m, UAE law. 
  • An international contractor in a LCIA arbitration concerning claims for variations and certified amounts arising from a consultancy agreement to deliver the civil works package for the 2020 Metro Project. UAE law.
  • A Canadian EPC contractor on a 283-day extension of time claim with a value of US$ 70m in relation to a liquid ammonia plant project in Salalah, the Sultanate of Oman. Oman law. 
  • A Spanish-based international EPC contractor on its claims against Saudi Aramco for change in SH&E requirements, unlawful suspension of works and prolongation costs on the Haradh and Hawiyah Gas Compression Project, English law.  Claims value in excess of US$ 375m.
  • A Spanish-based international EPC contractor on a 369-day extension of time claim with a value in excess of US$ 300m in relation to a refinery project in Duqm, the Sultanate of Oman. Oman law.
  • A civil mining contractor in a dispute concerning multimillion dollar claims for variations, extensions of time and liquidated damages relating to the construction of a coal export terminal in North Queensland.
  • Defending a Canadian EPC contractor in a breach of contract claim in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, valued in excess of US$ 5m relating to a failed compressor at a liquid ammonia plant in Western Australia. 
  • Defending an international private equity investment firm in a multimillion dollar dispute brought by the contractor in respect of a monies claim arising out of the design and construction of a hotel.
  • A tier one contractor on a multimillion-dollar arbitration in relation to combustible cladding issues and defects claims at a major high rise commercial office tower in Brisbane, Queensland.
