Patrik Daintry is a Partner in the Corporate Team at CMS Dubai.  Patrik has been based in the Middle East since 2006 and has a robust knowledge and affinity to the region. During this time Patrik has lived and worked in Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.  

Patrik’s core practice area is corporate finance with a particular emphasis on cross-border international mergers and acquisitions, private equity and international joint ventures (both MENA inbound and MENA outbound). However, Patrik also advises his clients on day to day corporate and commercial affairs including matters relating to regulatory (in the sectors of heath care, defence, financial services), employment, sale and distribution, disputes and data privacy. 

Patrik has a deep familiarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council markets, specifically the considerations and nuances of local laws, and Patrik is often sought after for his commercial perspective and approach in taking the best practices of a Western-style transaction and adapting it to the local market.

Being half Swedish, Patrik has strong links and relationships with Scandinavian businesses.

  • Multinational company in connection with its aborted joint venture and asset purchase transaction with a UAE based SWF in connection with setting up a gaming business.
  • Al-Futtaim Group in relation to its acquisition of Marks & Spencer’s retail business in Hong Kong and Macau.
  • An Asian defence business on the sale of defence-related equipment to the UAE and the resulting offset obligations imposed pursuant to the Tawazun Economic Program.
  • Emirates Hospital with respect to its acquisition of two clinics based in Dubai.
  • The founder of TruDoc Health on the sale of the entire share capital of TruDoc to a venture capital firm.
  • SAMI on the acquisition of AEC from BAE Systems (the largest KSA defence acquisition to date).
  • European defence contractor in connection with its joint venture with a KSA partner with respect to the manufacture and sale of military vessels.
  • An international corporation in connection with its joint venture and the establishment of its heavy industrial business in the KSA.
  • Abu Dhabi family office in the sale of the entire issued share capital of Warid Telecom Uganda Limited, a telecom company operating in Uganda, to Bharti Airtel, a rival operator.
  • Abu Dhabi SWF in connection with its minority investment into a North African port concession.
  • Miral Asset Management and its JV with Warner Bros and the construction, operation and management of the Warner Bros Theme Park in Abu Dhabi.
  • Klarna in relation to the regulatory fintech regime of the GCC.
