Our upcoming CMS Banking Brilliance Bootcamp webinar, “The New Slovak Civil Code in Financing Practice”, taking place on 8 October 2026. The session will be hosted by Petra Myšáková, with Zuzana Nikodémová and Vladimír Zemaník as speakers.
Designed with banks and other financial institutions in mind, the session will focus on the practical implications of the new Slovak Civil Code for lending and financing transactions, including:
- What changes for loan documentation? Key provisions that may require amendments to facility agreements, security documents and standard templates.
- Security package under the new regime. Practical impact on pledges, guarantees, enforcement and collateral structuring.
- Hidden risks in ongoing financings. How the new Civil Code may affect existing portfolios, refinancings and restructurings.
- Lessons learned from the Czech recodification. What Czech banks and finance lawyers changed after 2014, which issues became standard drafting points and which anticipated risks proved less material in practice.
- Market practice toolkit. Concrete drafting tips, checklists and "red flags" for Slovak lending transactions.
Zuzana will guide participants through the key changes introduced by the new Slovak Civil Code, while Vladimír will bring a Czech financing perspective based on more than a decade of market practice following the Czech civil law recodification in 2014 – highlighting what proved important for banks in practice, what required changes to financing documentation and which initial concerns ultimately proved less significant.
The webinar will be conducted in Czech/Slovak.
