CMS advises Česká spořitelna on financing for acquisition of Znovín Znojmo, a leading Czech winery
CMS has advised Česká spořitelna, a.s. on financing provided to Zwg.wine holding in connection with the acquisition of a majority stake in ZNOVÍN ZNOJMO, a.s., one of the largest wineries in the Czech Republic.
The newly established Zwg.wine holding, a local strategic investor, is dedicated to preserving Znovín’s heritage while modernising its operations. Zwg.wine already includes the Lahofer, Waldberg and Hanzel wineries. Following the acquisition of Znovín Znojmo, the holding becomes one of the three largest wine producers in the Czech Republic, managing nearly 1,000 hectares of vineyards in total.
Founded in the 1950s and headquartered in Šatov, South Moravia, Znovín Znojmo is renowned for its premium wines — including Riesling, Pálava, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon — as well as its late-harvest and ice wines. The company cultivates approximately 500 hectares of vineyards, including the historic Šobes vineyard, and produces around 2.6 million litres of wine annually. With its strong heritage and commitment to quality, Znovín Znojmo remains a cornerstone of Czech viticulture.
The transaction represents a significant milestone in the consolidation of the Czech wine industry and further strengthens CMS’s reputation as a leading adviser on complex banking and finance matters.
The CMS team was led by David Bujgl (Banking & Finance) under the supervision of Petra Mysakova, Partner and Head of Banking & Finance in the Czech Republic, and also included Adam Fanta (Banking & Finance).
