CMS Wistrand recruits two leading lawyers in two key regulatory areas
CMS Wistrand recruits two leading lawyers, Jennie Nilsson and Katrin Salwén, as partner and counsel in two key regulatory areas; Digital/Technology Law and EU and Competition Law.
CMS Wistrand continues its growth journey with two new recruitments in key regulatory areas: TMT and EU and competition law. We are proud to welcome two outstanding lawyers, Jennie Nilsson as partner and Katrin Salwén as counsel. Attracting two such experienced and driven lawyers to these roles is a valuable reinforcement of the entire CMS Wistrand team and is in line with the firm's long-term strategy.
Jennie Nilsson has worked in international organisations for more than fifteen years. She is currently Partner and Head of Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity at DLA Piper, and has previously held senior roles at Baker McKenzie and PwC. With focus on data protection and technology legislation, including GDPR and EU regulations such as the AI Act and NIS2, she brings experience from international assignments and in-depth knowledge of the rapidly changing technological and regulatory sphere.
Jennie will take up her position at CMS Wistrand in January 2025.
Katrin Salwén has more than 20 years of experience as general counsel and from leading international and Swedish law firms. She has a solid background in various industries and companies - currently at Infranode AB - and specialises in EU and competition law. Katrin has successfully handled complex cases at both Swedish and EU level, from rulings in the Court of Justice of the European Union to cartel investigations at the European Commission. Her strategic perspective and broad experience from key positions in IP licensing, transport and private equity make her an invaluable addition to CMS Wistrand's EU and competition law practice. Katrin also has experience in other regulatory areas, including life sciences, and will also develop CMS Wistrand in this area.
Katrin will take up her new position in March 2025.
Niklas Alvestrand Körling, Managing Partner of CMS Wistrand: “We have placed great emphasis on finding the right people to strengthen our offering in digital/technology law and EU and competition law, which is constantly evolving. Being able to attract Jennie Nilsson and Katrin Salwén is proof that we are doing the right things. The most rewarding part of our journey of change and growth is being able to attract talent and expertise to CMS Wistrand. We see the fact that they have chosen to join us as clear proof that our values and our direction resonate with the market - something that is inspiring for the whole firm.”

Jennie Nilsson: “For me, CMS Wistrand is an incredibly exciting choice. Being part of CMS, which is the largest law firm in the EU, with a strong global position in TMT, really appeals to me and it feels great to be part of strengthening this area in the Swedish market. I am very much looking forward to working with such a competent team and helping clients navigate the increasingly complex and cross-border technology legislation.”

Katrin Salwén: “Joining CMS Wistrand is a perfect fit for me. There is both an international context and the type of clients who really demand expertise in EU and competition law. I am very much looking forward to leading the CMS Wistrand’s development in this and related regulatory areas. Building something new and working on complex, cross-border projects is in line with my passion for the future and change.”
